University Journal of Student Projects and Research (UJSPR) Volume 3, 2026 Abstract: The Payroll Management System for Small Businesses is a web-based application developed to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and convenience in payroll and employee administration. The system provides centralized management of employee data, departments, positions, shift assignments, attendance, holidays, leave records, payroll, and payslips. By replacing traditional manual processes, it minimizes data-entry errors while maintaining structured employee and salary records. Featuring robust user authentication and role-based access control, the system enables administrators to efficiently manage workforce operations, approve leave requests, process payroll, and generate payslips. The database architecture is built on relational entities, including user, department, position, employee, shift_assign, shift_assign_detail, attendance_record, holiday, leave_record, payroll, and payslip. By centralizing these core functions, the system significantly reduces processing time for payroll staff, enhances salary calculation accuracy, and ensures reliable payroll records. Overall, this platform provides an effective digital solution for streamlining organizational workflow and employee record management.
