University Journal of Student Projects and Research (UJSPR) Volume 3, 2026 Abstract: The Hostel Directory System is designed to simplify and streamline the process of finding off-campus accommodations for students, with a special focus on easing the transition for incoming first-year students. The proposed web-based platform enables hostel owners to list and manage their available rooms, pricing, and facilities, while allowing students to easily search, filter, and compare verified external hostels based on location, budget, and amenities. Furthermore, the platform integrates interactive map tracking and distance calculation features, enabling users to effortlessly view the precise location of hostels relative to the university campus and measure travel distances. By utilizing a role-based architecture, the system ensures secure data management for administrators, efficient listing controls for hostel owners, and an intuitive, user-friendly interface for students and parents. The result is an accessible, efficient, and reliable platform that minimizes the stress of accommodation hunting and empowers first-year students to secure safe and suitable off-campus housing with ease.
