IoT Based Smart Piggery System

Myo Ko Thet, Aung Pyae Phyo

University Journal of Student Projects and Research (UJSPR)

Volume 3, 2026

Abstract: The IoT Smart Piggery System has been developed to improve the efficiency, productivity, and sustainability of pig farming through the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and automation. Conventional pig farming requires continuous manual labor for feeding, cleaning, water supply, and environmental management, which can be time-consuming and may affect the health and growth of pigs if not performed consistently. In addition, maintaining a suitable temperature inside the pig pen is important for providing a comfortable and healthy environment for pigs. This project aims to provide an intelligent and cost-effective solution that automates routine farm operations while enabling remote monitoring and control. The proposed system integrates sensors, microcontrollers, and communication technologies to automate essential piggery functions. Feeding, cleaning, water supply, ventilation, and lighting are controlled automatically based on predefined schedules and environmental conditions, while temperature is monitored to provide information about the conditions inside the pig pen. These functions help maintain a clean, comfortable, and healthy environment for the pigs. Environmental data is continuously monitored to support proper farm management and improve animal welfare. The system utilizes an ESP32-CAM module to provide real-time video monitoring of the piggery, allowing farmers to observe farm activities remotely. In addition, the Blynk application enables users to monitor system status and access farm information through a smartphone from any location with an internet connection. All hardware components are integrated using reliable electrical connections and an appropriate power supply to ensure stable and continuous operation under farm conditions. The IoT Smart Piggery System offers a practical, affordable, and user-friendly solution for modern pig farming. By reducing manual labor, improving operational efficiency, supporting better environmental management, monitoring temperature conditions, and enabling real-time remote monitoring, the system contributes to enhanced animal welfare, increased farm productivity, and greater economic benefits for farmers.

Keywords: pig farming, environmental management, remote monitoring and control, farm management, real-time remote monitoring, IoT-based system, temperature monitoring, smart piggery, ventilation, water supply.
